Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs)

ELMU University invites suitably qualified and experienced academic leaders to apply for the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs). This senior leadership role is pivotal in driving academic excellence, quality assurance and strategic academic development in alignment with the University’s mission and growth agenda.

Employment type: 2-Years Fixed-Term Contract

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all academic matters i.e programmes, teaching and learning activities, of ELMU University.
  2. Ensure high standards and excellence of academic quality, governance and compliance.
  3. Oversee programme/curriculum development, programme review, accreditation, quality assurance and compliance with MOHE, MQA, and relevant authorities.
  4. Lead and support academic staff performance and professional development.
  5. Provide strategic advice to the Management on academic strategy, institutional risks and growth opportunities.
  6. Enhance student academic experience, support and success.
  7. Drive innovation in teaching, learning and academic delivery.
  8. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advice academic excellence.

 

Requirements

  1. Academic Qualification

- Doctorate (PhD) from a recognised university.

- Strong academic credentials with evidence of scholarly achievement.

- Professional certification or training in higher education leadership or academic management is an advantage.

 

  1. Experience

- At least 10–15 years of experience in higher education, including senior academic leadership roles.

- Strong understanding of academic governance, curriculum development and quality frameworks.

- Experience in programme accreditation, regulatory compliance and academic audits.

- Strong track record in academic management, mentoring and academic staff development.

- Experience engaging with external stakeholders, regulators and academic partners.

- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
